Alagna means winter sports, skiing and being one of the most important ski areas in the Alps, and is almost certainly the most complete opportunity for skiing in Piedmont, but also other.
Skiing
Monterosa Ski circuit and its lifts allow you to reach high altitudes and a variety of pistes you’ll never grow tired of; off-piste skiing, which this place is famous for, means fun for even the fearless.
Along the slope served by the Pianalunga-Bocchetta delle Pisse chairlift instead, you can find the WoldChildren’s Ski Area, an ideal place for the little ones to approach skiing and become passionate about this sport.
Freeride
For expert skiers and lovers of fresh snow, Alagna and the slopes of Monte Rosa are truly one of the best opportunities to try freeriding.
Several itineraries start from the Indren Glacier down the Gressoney slope and the Alagna slope with a 2000 metre difference in height. Cross-country skiers can enjoy a network of 10 km trails that wind along the left bank of the river Sesia, among the meadows of the Balma valley and the woods of the Gabbio valley.
Climbing
Less busy in summer, the side valleys of Valsesia in winter become the realm of silence and solitude, and for this reason climbing the ice falls of Valsesia is an incredibly unique experience.
Trekking with snowshoes
The less bold can always take a walk in the snow with snowshoes. This adventure is within everyone’s reach: it’s easy, fun and is a winter version of hiking for those who do not enjoy ski mountaineering. You can walk through forests and listen to the silence, learn to recognise the tracks of animals and discover the secrets of nature in winter.
